MIGRANT WORKER HOUSING
Comprehensive Studio: Professor Tsz Yan Ng
Project with Young-Tack Oh
- We are interested in designing for scales of privacy within a setting where high-density living and working spaces (dormitories and factories) have become normative models of urbanism. In housing for migrant workers, even the bedroom has become a semi-public space - making a sense of privacy a highly valuable spatial quality.
- This project aims to redefine privacy through multiple formal operations. It questions the accepted idea of individual privacy in housing with the conception of a collective privacy, shared experience, and living close.
